banned as well as other people who aren’t famous academics but certainly aren’t even necessarily right-wing, much less actual Nazis. They call so-called “TERFS” (including people who are nowhere near being radfems like J. K. Rowling) Nazis and even Zionists Nazis.

That being said, I think we’ve all been being way too distracted defending ourselves and that isn’t great. I think we should go find the actual Nazis and report them and get them removed from the site. Being an actual Nazi is almost certainly not protected speech, since as Margaret Atwood said, being a Nazi means you want to kill all the Jews, so Nazis are implicitly threatening violence. As the article on Calm Down said, someone like Richard Hanania is not a Nazi though, I agree he’s a bigot and he’s still a bigot despite his public renunciations if you actually watch what he says, but he’s not threatening violence against anyone at all, he just has stupid “race realist” opinions about Black people and other idiotic stuff but his speech is technically protected by both the site rules and the 1st Amendment.

So, in addition to just not giving the “Substackers Against Nazis” the time of day, I think we should form a group of Substackers actually against Nazis and report Nazis. Sure, there aren’t very many of them, but if even one person is harmed because of actual Nazis that’s too many. I don’t think we need to spend every moment of every day we have free hunting Nazis and beat ourselves up, but imagine if all the time we spent arguing against the Substackers Against Nazis dolts (the main backers like Katz and Kabas, since I know lots of people, including Atwood herself, just were like “yeah, Nazis sound bad” and signed it without looking into SAN’s real agenda) were actually spent going after Nazis. Which, to be honest, would probably include SAN since they all appear to be rabid Hamasniks and Hamas is an actual Nazi organization, but it wouldn’t hurt to go after the more obvious white nationalists etc. who are actually threatening violence against Jews and other minorities as well. Just imagine the look on the Hamasniks’ faces when they’re rightfully grouped with overt Hitler-heilers where they belong.
