The magic of the “Swinging 60’s” counterculture in London triggered cultural and musical change globally. It was just as influential as the 60’s Bay Area in San Francisco at Haight Ashbury and Laurel Canyon in L.A. Carnaby Street changed fashion in the 60’s around the world. Lovely article. Respect.
Yeah I've heard that but that's still a good comment! That's why I picked the ship picture, because I heard the Union Jack was originally a naval flag.
Great Britain is among the world's most significant civilizations. The British were heirs to the classical culture of Greece and Rome. They spread Western Enlightenment ideals of parliamentary democracy, constitutionalism, secular government, and women's rights through their colonial conquests. The American Revolution was just and necessary, but even the most passionate Patriot cannot deny the achievements of Britannia. Great article, thanks!
Views on the British Empire are mixed. Except in Britain. Despite the determined efforts of the media elites most Britons think fondly of it, while acknowledging some of the downsides. This drives its critics crazy.
And Britain is unusually successful. The resentment we see in America is present here too. To be absolutely blunt about it, immigrants from failed states sense very deeply they are not at the same level and choose to denigrate us instead of celebrating their good fortune. I think more people are noticing this.
Thanks for writing something nice about us. I love my country and its people very dearly. I could weep at what is being done to us by cultural destroyers.
Yeah, I don't know what to say about Ireland right now, just wanted to defend Britain since a huge part of wolx' arguments is "British Empire baaaaad." Ireland seems fine but not in as much of a need of defending from wolx.

I was going to make a comment about Ireland, but you guy beat me too it :)
So the flag at the front of the warship is known as the Jack. The flag at the back end if a warship is known as the Ensign.

As a Briton, I approve of this message.
