Why the Baby Boomers Were the Real Commies All Along! (substack.com)
Monopoly on Knowledge: The Era of Epistemic Security (substack.com)
Once upon a time, there was a generation called the Baby Boomers that inherited a great economy and had a lot of members, and it would only be a slight exaggeration to say that they bought a house at the age of 15 with their McDonald’s frycook jobs. As they got older, they used their demographic predominance to enter politics and tax the young to pay for their opulent lifestyles as well as starting the Iraq War, more than doubling the national debt, causing global warming, and every other major disaster known to humanity.
Then, as these people started to see their imminent doom despite the fact they weren’t even old yet, maybe a little north of middle-aged for the oldest ones, they decided they felt really bad about themselves and their lives so they needed someone to look down on. So they decided to make a show making fun of people who actually work instead of partying, sorry, I mean “nerds.” This has caused the number of people entering STEM professions to drastically decrease as they are bullied by their own parents, and even if they overcome that, the Baby Boomers own all the academic positions and all the money while also making college increasingly prohibitively expensive.
If I had an academic position, I wouldn’t be writing these kinds of things on Substack right now, I would be writing academic papers and books, and my Substack would just be promoting my academic papers and books. However, it’s not like Isaac Newton had a physics degree or wrote physics papers for an academic journal. Since things are really that bad for the time being, this will have to do.
I’m not so sure that blaming any particular generation isn’t simply playing into the hands of the “divide and conquer” elites. The boomers didn’t create the central bank system which has caused the debt fuelled bubble, they just benefitted from it on the way up. But they now will pay the biggest price as their assets are repossessed while they are too old and sick to go back to work.
Big Bang is the best show ever! (second only to Married With Children). True points about the Boomers. As for not having an academic position but still wanting to write: Join the club, we have jackets, haha. Thanks for sharing, this was a fun article!
